SLD, the Law, and Best Practices for Classification

Presenter: John K. Worthington, Esq., is an education law specialist for Legal One at NJPSA/NJFEA. John has served as late as 2018 as Director of the Office of Special Education Policy and Procedure in the NJDOE. As Director of OSEPP, John oversaw the operation of monitoring; dispute resolution; oversight of IDEA Part B Grant; oversight of policy, guidance, and administrative code; and special education data collection and analysis. He also served for 10 years as a NJ Deputy Attorney General, representing the Departments of Education and Health and Human Services.

Description: Mr. Worthington will be discussing the current SLD law and best practices, as well as possible changes proposed by a new SLD law that will hopefully be passed in the near future.  Please bring lots of questions to assure that you and your district are following best practices under the current law, as well as best practices under the new law if it is passed.

Target Audience: Child study team members, administrators
